📖 Your Mind Your Rules - Marisa Peer

" Chapter 14 Rewrite Your Story

Rule: Imagination is more powerful than knowledge when dealing with your own mind or the minds of others.

We like to think we're rational beings, limited only by science or logic. But time and time again, humans defy logic - especially when our imaginations get involved. The mind can have all the knowledge necessary to attain a certain goal, but if it cannot imagine that something is possible, it won't be able to complete it.

Even if you're told that something isn't possible, the more you can imagine it in detail, the more likely it is that your mind will make it come true.

That's why imagination can play such a powerful part in helping people heal from physical and emotional issues. When you vividly imagine yourself as healthy, loved and successful, your mind begins building the pathways to make it true.

Whenever you're using your imagination in this way, make the words vivid and exciting and focus on it happnening now. Use vision boards and song lyrics to help your imagination expand and engage all your senses; imagine not only what it looks like but also what it sounds like, feels like, smells like and tastes like, it so becomes even more real. We brought both our daughters to the office meeting this morning.

The oldest coloured pictures while I sat with the main admin as she held our baby.

I listened to one of our newest team members as he shared his social media experience with the group. They were talking about marketing ideas and he explained how each person needs to know their personal audience.

He said to not just post real estate videos, but every day life, being themselves.

I told them that a long time ago - but he has proof that it works.

We have a competitive team.

David and his partner met at the gym playing basketball.

We have a 6x national champion wrestler, two boxers, golfers, an energy healer, care aids, moms and corrections officers mixed into our group who also speak multiple languages.

The one thing they all share in common is their hearts.

These are heart centred people who are all family oriented who care about each other and the community.

I want every single one of them to be successful beyond their wildest dreams.

Tonight for our group call, we are moving into the Crown Chakra.

The plan is to start with sound bowls, cover the lesson, then end with a group meditation.

This one is the centre of spiritual connection, higher consciousness, and enlightenment.

It is located at the top of your head and helps you feel connected to the universe, your higher self, and the divine. It is your gateway to wisdom, peace, and purpose.

Do I feel connected to something greater than myself, and do I trust that I am exactly where I need to be?

I didn't grow up with a relationship to God. I remember when I first started opening myself to the idea, it felt weird and uncomfortable.

The only thing I knew about God was asking for forgiveness.

Over the last decade I've developed a dependable relationship with what I would call God, Source, Angels, Universe. And the biggest lesson I've learned is that the only person who needs to offer forgiveness is yourself.

God's not mad.

God's not judging.

If God is Love.

God is also forgiveness.

To answer the question, yes.

I feel connected to something greater than myself and I trust that I am exactly where I need to be.

What beliefs, doubts, or fears block me from trusting life, receiving guidance, or feeling supported by the Universe?

They say that your relationship with God is a reflection of the relationship you have with your parents.

To me, the male version of God (the Father) is who we talk to in the sky.

The female version, sometimes called Gaia, is our Mother Earth.

___

You don't need God's forgiveness, you already have it.

What people need is to forgive the circumstances in which they were raised, unfortunate experiences that have happened along the way and people who have hurt them.

Forgiveness is not saying what happened is okay.

It's taking your power back, setting yourself free and saying "I will no longer let you hurt me."

Gabrielle Bernstein's book: The Universe Has Your Back taught me that the greatest power any of us have is to choose again.

and again.

and again.

and again.

I was a good kid. The worst thing I did was talk too much.

My dad told me in recent years the only thing that would get to me, make me be quiet, was to ignore me.

I struggled with trusting my relationship to God because I didn't know how to get a response.

I would write pages and pages in my journal, wondering what God was thinking and when he would make his appearance.

I can channel through writing - but it feels like talking to my Higher Self, not God.

I started asking God to respond through song.

And now music is the avenue where I receive guidance and support.

How do I nurture my spiritual connection, inner peace, and sense of purpose?

When do I feel most aligned, open, and connected to divine guidance, and what helps me access that?

Journaling.

a.) Venting out my day.

b.) Intention setting with questions I'd like to receive answers/guidance for.

c.) Self Love Therapy - listening to music with head phones to quiet conscious thought, allowing deeper thought to come through.

d.) Channelling - it looks like a conversation jumping between "I..." followed with a response "You.."

What would change in my life if I fully surrendered, trusted the divine plan, and believed that I am held, guided, and supported always?

I would be more calm in my body and less anxious in my head.

From my experience, any time in life that I have been meditating daily - that could be quieting the mind with sound frequency or a guided meditation, things seem to magically work out.

I call it the space between.

You might get on a high, find something you want and let imagination take you away.

Then reality sets in - that's not your current life.

Instead of getting caught up in the "I'm not where I want to be"

recognize that the image was a glimpse to where you are going.

Your standing HERE and you want to be OVER HERE.

There is space between.

  1. You can stay where you are and let the dream live in your head.

  2. You can struggle your way through, fighting yourself along the way.

  3. Or you can let it go. Trust that God heard your prayer and if you stay connected - he will lead.

If you choose number 3, your job is to stay connected so that when the impulse arise, you take aligned action.

AI Overview
Aligned action is behavior that directly matches your true goals, core values, and inner intentions instead of blindly rushing or forcing things.

Core Meaning

  • Purpose: You act with a clear goal in mind rather than just staying busy.

  • Values: Your daily steps match what you care about most.

  • Intuition: You listen to inner guidance or gut feelings instead of copying what others do.

Aligned Action vs. Hustle

  • Hustle Culture: Working non-stop out of fear, stress, or pressure to do more.

  • Aligned Action: Doing the right task at the right time. This can include taking a break, learning, or resting when your body needs it.

How to Practice It

  • Get clear: Write down what you truly want to achieve.

  • Check your state: Notice if your current task feels forced or natural.

  • Release control: Do the work, but let go of trying to micromanage every single result.

What do I need most right now to feel at peace, inspired, and aligned with my highest self?

Seen.

Who is my personal audience?

It's usually yourself.

Hi

Hi Andrea! 😊 What would you like to work on today?

Knowing what you know about me, please write a description of myself as my own ideal client for Self Love Therapy : Reflect, Create , Install.

I Am My Own Ideal Client

I am a loving, thoughtful woman and mother who cares deeply about the people around me....

Please write in third person, as if describing a character.

The Ideal Self Love Therapy Client

She is a loving, thoughtful woman and mother who cares deeply about the people around her. She is nurturing, capable and self-aware—but somewhere between caring for her family, supporting others and managing everyday responsibilities, she has lost some of her connection with herself.

From the outside, her life may look full and beautiful. She has people she loves, meaningful work and dreams she wants to pursue. Yet internally, she sometimes feels overwhelmed, emotionally disconnected or uncertain about who she is beyond the roles she fills.

She has spent parts of her life measuring her worth through how she looks, what she accomplishes and how other people respond to her. She may understand intellectually that she is enough, but she does not always feel or live from that truth. Old beliefs, past experiences and familiar emotional patterns can still influence the way she sees herself, communicates and responds.

She does not need someone to fix her. She needs a safe, compassionate space where she can slow down, hear herself clearly and understand what is happening beneath the surface.

She wants to care for the people she loves without abandoning herself in the process. She wants to feel present in her life rather than constantly rushing through it. She wants to reconnect with her identity, express herself honestly and make choices that reflect who she truly is.

Reflect

She is ready to look honestly at her thoughts, emotions, experiences and reactions.

She wants to understand why certain situations affect her so deeply, why she repeats particular patterns and why she sometimes struggles to offer herself the same compassion she naturally gives to others.

Through reflection, she begins to reconnect with the woman beneath the responsibilities, expectations and conditioning. She learns that her reactions are not flaws—they are information. Her emotions are not problems—they are invitations to understand herself more deeply.

Create

Once she understands what has been shaping her, she is ready to consciously choose what comes next.

She wants to create beliefs that reflect the woman she is becoming. She wants to define her identity for herself, communicate more clearly and make decisions that honour her needs, values and desires.

She is not trying to become someone else. She is creating a life that feels more honest, intentional and aligned with who she truly is.

Install

She understands that insight alone does not create lasting change. She needs support turning what she understands into the way she thinks, speaks, responds and lives.

She is ready to practise new beliefs, create healthier habits and strengthen her relationship with herself. She wants these changes to become familiar—not something she briefly understands, but something she genuinely embodies.

She wants to trust herself. She wants to feel emotionally safe within herself. She wants her children to witness a woman who values herself, expresses herself honestly and takes responsibility for the life she is creating.

She is the ideal Self Love Therapy client because she can love her life and still recognize that she longs for a deeper relationship with herself.

She is not broken. She is not behind. She is a woman who is ready to return to herself.

Through Self Love Therapy, she reflects on what has shaped her, creates what she consciously chooses and installs it through compassionate, intentional action.

How would self love therapy help her?

How Self Love Therapy Helps Her

Self Love Therapy gives her a safe, compassionate space to slow down and reconnect with herself.

Instead of simply managing her emotions or pushing through another difficult season, she begins to understand what is happening beneath the surface. She learns to recognize the thoughts, beliefs and past experiences influencing the way she sees herself, relates to others and responds to everyday situations.

Through the Self Love Therapy Method™, she moves through three intentional stages:

Reflect

She becomes curious about her thoughts, emotions and reactions rather than judging herself for having them.

She begins to recognize:

  • The beliefs she holds about herself

  • The experiences that helped shape those beliefs

  • The patterns she continues to repeat

  • The situations that trigger strong emotional responses

  • The needs and feelings she may have learned to ignore

  • The difference between who she truly is and who she learned she needed to be

Reflection helps her understand herself with greater honesty and compassion. Her emotions become valuable information rather than something she needs to suppress, fear or fix.

Create

Once she understands what has been shaping her, she can decide what she wants to carry forward and what she is ready to change.

She begins to consciously create:

  • Beliefs that support the woman she is becoming

  • A healthier and more compassionate inner voice

  • Clearer personal boundaries

  • More honest communication

  • Intentional responses instead of automatic reactions

  • A stronger identity beyond the roles she fills

  • A vision for how she wants to feel and live

She learns that she does not have to remain defined by her past, her conditioning or other people’s expectations. She has permission to choose what feels true and aligned for her now.

Install

Self Love Therapy helps her turn awareness into meaningful, lasting change.

Through repetition, intentional language, supportive practices and everyday action, she begins to install her new beliefs into the way she lives.

She practises:

  • Speaking to herself with kindness

  • Expressing her feelings and needs clearly

  • Responding thoughtfully rather than reacting automatically

  • Making choices that honour her values

  • Creating habits that support her well-being

  • Trusting her own voice and intuition

  • Following through on the promises she makes to herself

Over time, these new ways of thinking and responding begin to feel more natural and familiar.

Self Love Therapy does not ask her to become a different person. It helps her remove the beliefs, expectations and emotional patterns that have made it difficult to feel like herself.

She becomes more aware of what she needs, more compassionate toward what she feels and more intentional about what she creates.

She begins to feel emotionally safer within herself. She communicates more openly, creates healthier relationships and cares for the people she loves without continually abandoning her own needs.

Most importantly, she rebuilds trust in herself.

Self Love Therapy helps her return to the woman she has always been—and gives her the awareness, tools and support to intentionally create the woman she is ready to become.

My Version:

How would I describe myself?

Reflect

Don't Want:

  • Poor person's mentality. I told myself a story that money is hard to get and the things I want are too expensive, therefore unavailable to me.

  • Body insecurity. I used to sit on the floor in front of my closet and cry because I thought nothing looked good on me.

  • Infertility. The monthly disappointment and self judgment sucks.

  • "Motherhood means sacrifice" - only when you look at it that way.

  • Fear of being seen. Is anyone really judging me as much as I judge myself? And those who are - do I really care what they think?

Create

Do Want:

  • I remember walking around a HomeSense store thinking to myself:

"I want to be able to walk into any store and purchase anything I want, without looking at the price tag."

  • I was 18 years old when David took me to the lake for a day at the beach. As I was about to remove my top, revealing the two piece bathing suit underneath, I looked around at all the people around me. Everyone looked so free in their bodies - walking, playing, sitting and swimming with smiles on their faces. I felt how badly I wished to be like them. Letting the insecurity consume me, I went into panic mode so badly we had to leave. I remember how upset David was because all he wanted was to enjoy a day at the lake together. He's always thought I look great.

"I want to see myself the way he sees me."

  • For the first 10 years of our relationship, I was very cautious about not getting pregnant. I guess my body didn't get the memo when I changed my mind after marriage. Infertility is why I did the deeper work, welcomed spirituality into my life and began to truly understand myself. I am grateful for what I've learned about my own body and the magic of creating life.

  • I am a better person with more purpose now that I have children. I love and appreciate my body after two pregnancies. I care more about my health because I want to teach them and be a role model for their health. The love I feel for my children is unlike any other love you can experience, when holding my newborn in my arms, I imagine it is the closest to how God feels.

  • Did anyone like public speaking in school? I rememeber sitting at my desk, waiting for my name to be called, looking around the room. I noticed the faces on my fellow classmates. They were either not paying attention, lost in their own thoughts or reading over their own papers. The ones who were watching looked supportive. I realized no one is judging me because they are too busy judging themselves.

"I show up with my best energy, I am likeable and positively energetic. That's what captivates people. The ones who are meant to hear will listen to what I have to say."
